OK so after my debacle with the burpees and tight calves, there was a bit of a break in the exercise. But when you have to shuffle around the house for 10 minutes before you can walk with a semblance of normality, I think it’s a sign to take it easy. And I am super careful with my calves because I partially tore my Achilles a bunch of years ago. The scar tissue is so bad that every physiotherapist and massage therapist comments on it. Call me crazy but snapping that tendon is really low on my priority list.
With an eye on keeping the impact to the low end of the scale, I did do some work on the elliptical and when I felt like I wanted to get a bit more flailing, I did some work with my heavy bag. It wasn’t pretty. At all. It’s been too long and my form was awful and sloppy. I had known that I was a bit out of practice but I didn’t realize just how bad it was until I videoed it. Ugh.
On a positive note, I think that the elliptical did help to loosen my calves up and I was going for short and mostly easy runs around home and then hitting the treadmill at work. I even did <gasp> weights. Say what?
Monday March 13 – ouchie calves
Tuesday March 14 – 60 minutes on the elliptical
- 4 minute Tabata workout with heavy bag: 20 seconds punching all out, rest 10 seconds, 20 seconds squat to angle kicks, 10 seconds rest then repeat.
Wednesday March 15 – Easy 5 km trail run (33:06 minutes)
Thursday March 16 – 40 minutes treadmill
Friday March 17 – 20 minutes treadmill
- Bent over fly – 3 sets, 12 reps (8 lbs – I’ve got a bad shoulder)
- Incline bench press – 3 sets, 12 reps (15 lbs dumbbell)
- Bent over row – 3 sets, 12 reps (15 lbs dumbbells)
- Kettlebell swing – 3 sets, 12 reps (40 lbs)
- Lunge with Bosu – 3 sets, 12 reps (20 lbs dumbbell)
- Plank with Bosu – 3 sets for 30 seconds each
Saturday March 18 – Rest since long night at work the night before
Sunday March 19 – started on the elliptical but had to cut lunch short
Now for the food: I made moose. A friend had given me a moose roast a while ago and I kept forgetting that it was in my freezer. So finally I made it. I had never had moose before and was surprised at how super beefy it tasted and really low in fat which I guess makes sense. It’s not going to be a regular part of my diet but it wasn’t bad.
And I had a sushi feast at Kiu in Markham. Some friends and I get together every so often and gorge ourselves, usually on sushi. This place was insanely good and considering the high quality and freshness of the ingredients, especially of the seafood, I expected to have to pull my credit card screaming from my wallet. We were all surprised at the cost. If you like Japanese and are near Markham, do yourself a favour and go. I can’t remember what everything is because we all shared and we usually just let one friend order for us and demolish whatever is set on the table.
That was the highlight of the food: moose and sushi. I guess that’s not too bad at all after all.
I don’t know from sloppy, but you look pretty fierce in those action shots!! OMG moose! Wow. I had buffalo a couple times not sure if it’s similar, just remember it being super salty. Love the restaurant food pictures, if I wasn’t 3 million miles away I would go there for dinner tonight lol. 😊

Ha gotta get the eye of the tiger thing going. I’ve had buffalo too. Moose is similar but even more beefy tasting. It would almost be worth the flight. Almost…

Agree with Benjamin. I have no clue about the form, but the action looks cool.
Also, moose? Moose! The closest I’ve come to eating something like moose is deer, and they are rather different.
Sushi is my jam. I have it at least once a week and it’s great when you have a great product that’s not too expensive.

Thank you but I will say the still shots look so much better than the video. I’ve actually never eaten deer. Something about eating Bambi…
If it wasn’t so much I would probably eat it almost every day so finding a good spot is amazing.

Hey You! 😀
Sorry I have been MIA from the blog word a bit. I was on and off the last couple of days trying to play catch up to those that commented and liked, etc. It gets hard to keep up with social media when you take time off for a little while. jeez. Hopefully you have a wonderful weekend, i am trying to enjoy mine once I am finished playing catch up! haha
P.S
Thanks for the Instagram support 🙂 You should be posting more pictures! lmao

You tend to do well with catching up with all my post, so I figure to never worry about that 🙂 but seriously, playing catch up takes so much time! lol

Boy does it ever. I have an extra complication with the internet connection. It can be patchy at best. The joys of country living.
